News from:kehu Publish:2016/12/24 17:07:10 Browse2442 summary:Recently, the 8th International Symposium on Coal Combustion, one of the most important symposiums in this area, was hosted successfully by Tsinghua University at Beijing’s China National Convention Center. The opening ceremony was held on July 20th at Beijing’s China National Convention Center.Prof. Xue Qikun, the vice president of Tsinghua University and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Liu Tao, the director of the third office of engineering and materials in National Natural Science Foundation of China, gave the welcoming remarks. Xue Qikun welcomed more than 220 representatives from home and abroad on behalf of Tsinghua University. He pointed out that the departments relevant to energy at Tsinghua had been living their dream of green energy based on the great national demand. They had tackled key technical problems in the fields of clean coal, nuclear power, hydropower and renewable energy, achieving a number of impressive results like the 600MW supercritical circulating fluidized bed boiler and the 10MW high temperature gas cooled reactor.
Liu Tao said that, with the sustained and steady support of the national projects of science and technology, the fundamental researches on clean coal combustion of China should reach the international advanced level. He also expressed his ardent expectations of China’s leading edge in some areas.
Prof. Yue Guangxi from Tsinghua University, the chairman of the symposium and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, made the opening speech. He recalled the hard time when the ISCC was established by the scholars of older generation such as Mr. Feng Junkai, Mr. Dong Shuping, and Mr. Xu Xuchang from the department of thermal engineering at Tsinghua, with the support of the president Zhang Xiaowen and the vice president Ni Weidou in 1987. He also mentioned that the ISCC had been held successfully seven times and had an expanding influence in domestic and abroad academic circles and the field of power engineering. The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Li Shuiqing from Tsinghua University, the secretary-general of the symposium.
After the opening ceremony, academician Guangxi Yue from Tsinghua University, Dr Minchener from International Energy Agent, Dr Makino from Japan coal energy association who is also the visiting professor at Tsinghua University, Prof. Bhattacharya from Monash University in Australia and Prof. Kneer from RWTH Aachen University gave invited lectures on the important progress and future development of coal combustion technology.
During the symposium, more than 220 experts and young scholars from 13 countries conducted in-depth discussion on the topic of coal properties, pulverized coal combustion, fluidized bed combustion, carbon dioxide capture and storage, pollution prevention and industrial application. The scholars shared their research findings, introduced the national development and exchanged academic ideas and technology, promoting the development of coal combustion technology in China even all over the world.
Notably, apart from the scholar delegates from top universities all over the world, the symposium has obtained support from the industry fields. Experts from the American institute of electrical engineering, Russia thermal institute, Japan coal companies, three main power equipment manufacturers in China: Harbin boiler factory, Dong Fang boiler factory and Shanghai boiler factory, and energy companies like Shenhua, Guodian, and Huaneng introduced the industrial application of clean coal technology. This has reinforced the partnership between academia and industry and promotes the realization of production and research integration, which is also one of the characteristics of ISCC.
All the members attending the committee meeting regarded this symposium to be a complete success. Suggestions on the organization, the topic, the invited lectures, paper reviews and proceedings as well as industry participation were also put forward. Moreover, it was determined that the 9th International Symposium on Coal Combustion would be held in 2018 in Taiyuan, China.
During the symposium, volunteers from Thermal Engineering department, led by Prof. Hai Zhang, associate Prof. Qing Liu and Man Zhang, provided passionate and thoughtful volunteering service, which has guaranteed the success of this symposium.
